Great Gifts for Dad for Father's Day

Tue, 05/26/2009 - 6:56AM by Alissa TG 0 Comments - 15 Views

Buying gifts for dad, I think, is a difficult task. If your dad is anything like mine, he is very happy with no gifts, but of course, as the "child," I like to give my dad something tangible to show him I appreciate him being my dad.

A few years ago my dad and I were watching TV together and we really liked the tie the news reporter was wearing; so while it may be "cliché" I found that tie and gave it to him for Father's Day. After that I realized my dad is more into fashion than I ever realized, so buying him nice clothes and ties is actually something he really likes to get! However, I do get bored giving the same type of gift every year, and I like to mix it up. So, if you need to spice up you gift for dad this year for Father's Day, I have put together a list of some different items your dad might enjoy.

For the family-oriented working dad, the Monitor Corner Frame could be a great gift! You can put pictures of the family in the picture frames. The Monitor Corner Frame sits on dad's computer monitor, and he will always be able to look at his kids all day long. My dad has lots of pictures of me and my brother in his office - and it still makes me happy to know he likes to have them there.

The Foldaway Hammock is the perfect gift for the dad who likes to relax, and for the dad who needs to relax. This easy set-up Foldaway Hammock is an excellent way to say to dad, "You have worked so hard with me, I am giving you just what you need to take some time to yourself".

One of my favorite gifts that I gave to my dad is the Micro Cool Mini Fridge. I bought it for him because people at his office take food out of the common refrigerator that does not belong to them (his lunch was never safe). The Micro Cool Mini Fridge also is very portable, and can even be plugged into a car's lighter outlet to keep food warm or cool on road trips!

If your dad has too many gadgets, and therefore too many remote controllers for those gadgets, a useful gift for him might be the Remote Organizer. The Remote Organizer will hold his controllers, so he will never be on a search for the TV remote again.

And last, but not least, for the dad who likes to play games, give him what he really wants...a pool table! Dad with love the Fold Up Pool Table to play pool with you, his friends, or himself. A great gift for dad is one that he can use with his family.

These are just some of my ideas on gifts to get for dad for Father's Day. What have you gotten for your dad in the past? What is your gift plan for this year?

Our First Lady, Michelle Obama, to Plant a Vegetable Garden

Thu, 03/26/2009 - 6:52AM by Alissa TG 1 Comment - 12 Views

I heard on the radio into work the other morning that our new First Lady, Michelle Obama, plans to create, and maintain, her own vegetable garden and give those vegetables to the chefs in the White House to use. We can use Michelle Obama as our motivation to get outside this spring and start growing our own vegetables as well.

So, while First Lady, Michelle Obama, may have a horticultural skill, others may not. Therefore, we have tools to help us in our vegetable garden adventure.
The Awesome Auger is the As Seen on TV garden tool from last year that will never go out of style. The Awesome Auger attaches to any size drill, and can help get your ground ready to plant your new vegetable garden. While the Awesome Auger has many other uses as well, it will help a great deal in the beginning stages of your garden.

You may find it difficult to remember to water your vegetable garden, or have the confidence that you give it the proper amount of water. Two (out of many options) that you have are to use a sprinkler system, or the very popular, Aqua Globes. A Portable Sprinkler System attaches right to your outdoor spigot and the 3 sprinkler heads can be positioned however you want. The Portable Sprinkler System is great because you can also use this to keep your whole lawn watered regularly as well. A second option to making sure your vegetable garden gets the water it needs is to use the well-known As Seen on TV item, the Aqua Globes. The hand blown Aqua Globes are designed to properly water the plants with the correct amount of water - not too much, and not too little. The Aqua Globes also work great if you decide to go away and you want to make sure your vegetable garden is maintained. With these watering options, you can relax when it comes to watering your garden.

If you decide a full backyard garden is not for you, you still have the option to grown your own vegetables at home with the Topsy Turvy. The Topsy Turvy now has 3 varieties to grow plants, vegetables, herbs, and flowers at home even without a yard. The Topsy Turvy hangs and grows your vegetables up-side-down, so even the apartment/condo owner can enjoy fresh vegetables as well. Try out the Topsy Turvy Tomato Grower to grow tomatoes, other veggies, herbs, and flowers. Also try the new Topsy Turvy Strawberry Planter for strawberries and herbs, and the Topsy Turvy Hot Pepper Planter for the hot peppers to spice up your home-cooked meals.

Will you decide to join First Lady, Michelle Obama, and start your own vegetable garden? What veggies will you decide to grow this year?

Organize Your Jewelry Drawer

If you rarely wear jewelry, it still is a good idea to keep it organized. You can lose items or misplace them during infrequent use, but an organization plan can alleviate these problems. A proper jewelry storage system can display your earrings and necklaces while serving as a decorative element of your room.

Place small hooks on the wall or along the inside of an armoire to store all of your necklaces in an easily visible location that is also safe for your jewelry. This can free up space in your drawer for the rest of your jewelry. You can also drape necklaces over cups, small bowls, small plates, or other similar items. This provides enough space to avoid tangling.

If you own many rings, you should use a see through storage container which can make it easier to find the ring you want to wear. A popular and easy way to store rings is to purchase an organizer with posts that hold each ring individually. However, these can take up a great deal of space, and sometimes it is better to buy a ring box designed to hold each ring separately. One can even find boxes with clear tops in order to display rings well.

The important part about storing earrings is that they are kept separately in order to avoid having them get misplaced or damaged. There are many ways to accomplish this, ranging from simply buying a cushion and having the earrings rest in the cushion, cushioning the entire drawer so that rings can easily be stored within, or buying an earring case with compartments to store each pair of earrings separately.

There are ways to go beyond the drawer to store your jewelry. Well-designed jewelry armories come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and styles. Some models are very simple like a hinged mirror cabinet with a compartment to store the jewelry. Others are more elaborate and can store hundreds of items in a very attractive way. Most of these products come with built in hooks and compartments to make it easy for you to divide your jewelry well.

A good system can help keep your jewelry away from harm, untangled and easily accessible. Beyond that, jewelry storage can provide decorative elements to brighten any room. Be willing to invest in quality storage products, and your ideal jewelry display can become true.

Cleavage Control Clip Featured on the Rachel Ray Show

Tue, 02/17/2009 - 12:15PM by Alissa TG 0 Comments - 24 Views

The Rachel Ray Show has a segment called, "I Can't Stand My...". In January of this year, the Cleavage Control Clip was featured when the Rachel Ray Show did the segment "I Can't Stand My Cleavage." Two women were featured: one who didn't have as much cleavage as she wanted, and one who felt she had too much. Gretta Monahan, an expert on the Rachel Ray Show, gave out tips for both of these ladies to feel more comfortable in their bodies. For Jeanie who wanted a bit more cleavage, among other ideas, Gretta suggested she use the Cleavage Control Clip.

The Cleavage Control Clip has become a very useful tool for women. By simply attaching the Cleavage Control Clip to each bra strap, it will boost cleavage and also helps with better posture. The Cleavage Control Clip slides up and down the bra straps to create as much or as little cleavage as desired.

In addition to helping women feel better physically, the Cleavage Control Clip will also help to save women money. Now, we no longer need to throw away old bras once the straps start to get old and worn out, and start falling off our shoulders. The Cleavage Control Clip attaches to the straps and tightens them up. So now, the lifespan of the bras grows thanks to the Cleavage Control Clip, and we do not have to buy bras quite as often.

Keeping Your Shoes Organized

Wed, 02/04/2009 - 6:57AM by Alissa TG 0 Comments - 8 Views

The best tip you may ever get about keeping your shoes organized is to put them away. A great way to choose the best spot for your shoes is to think about it strategically. One of the first things you should do when attempting to organize your shoes is to take all of your shoes (yes ALL of them) out of the closet and line them up. You should donate all the shoes you don’t wear to charity. Worn out or old shoes you don’t wear anymore may be the nicest shoes in the world to someone who is less fortunate.

A great way to keep your shoes organized, once you have sorted them, is to use stackable shoe cabinets or shoe racks. These organizational products allow you to place shoes neatly within a concentrated area.

If you have a smaller closet with a lot less floor space, hanging shoe racks are very handy. Most hanging shoe racks will hold up to ten pairs of shoes and can hang easily from the closet bar. There are even hanging shoe racks for the back of closet or bedroom door. A shoe tower is also a good alternative to the hanging rack or stackable cabinet.

If you have plenty of closet space, think about using shelf dividers to keep your shoes in order. The shelf dividers will also make it possible for you to have shoes on one part of the shelf while storing other items on another shelf. Shelves will also make shoes very accessible and visible.

Clear, plastic shoe boxes are an excellent way to keep your shoes organized within your closet. These clear shoe boxes are also a wonderful way to preserve your shoes.

As long as you follow these simple tips to organizing your shoe collection you will be less frustrated finding that perfect pair of shoes for the day. Just remember, once you have gone through all the trouble of organizing your shoes, simply put them back in their proper place when not wearing them to help you keep them organized!

Exercise Tips for People on the Move

Tue, 01/27/2009 - 11:25AM by Alissa TG 0 Comments - 7 Views

No matter how busy you think you are, there are plenty of ways to to fit in some exercise.

One of the best ways to fit exercise into a busy schedule is to do it at home. Yoga is a great workout and is cost effective too; all you need is a yoga mat and DVD. There are plenty of workout plans for busy folks, so look for one that has 20 minute workouts. Exercising for 20 minutes a day is better than nothing. If you work from home, these 20 minutes could be on your lunch break.

If you’re not into the yoga mat and DVD, there is always the option of a treadmill or an elliptical machine. If you have a small space, there are plenty of machines available today that fold into neat, compact shapes for easy storage. If you are into toning your muscles you may want to look into a pull-up bar such as the Iron Gym or some free weights.

For people who sit at a desk, it is important to get up and walk around. This is good for your circulation and your well-being. While at work, place your office implements in strategic places that will encourage activity. Place your stapler on the top shelf, so that you must get up and stretch for it when you need it. Make sure that you take a break at least once an hour.

On your lunch hour, or during that coffee break, set some time aside to take a brisk walk. Just 10 minutes a day will do the trick. You don’t have to break a sweat, but get your heart going. Or, walk to a deli nearby to enjoy lunch with your coworkers. Use the stairs instead of the elevator. Do what you can to get your blood flowing and body moving.

At home, if you have chores, do them with enthusiasm. Put on some music and dance away as you dust the dining room. Bring the heart rate up as you scrub the bedrooms. You can be active and get house work accomplished at the same time.

Exercising even when you think you don’t have the time might be easier than you think. A little activity in the morning or on your lunch break can go a long way.

Mini Aqua Globes to Water Plants All Year

Fri, 01/23/2009 - 11:57AM by Alissa TG 0 Comments - 128 Views

So it is winter time…it is cold and snowy outside, so why are we even thinking about watering plants now? Well, we have indoor plants that still need love, and thinking to the near future when the sun shines and it is more than 20 degrees outside and plants can actually grow, we will need to take care of them too.

Last year, we were introduced to the Aqua Globes. The Aqua Globes were (and still are) an excellent solution to keep plants watered when going away for a while, and for those of us who always manage to find ways to kill our plants from over or under-watering. This year, there is a new kind of Aqua Globe…Mini Aqua Globes. The Mini Aqua Globes are 8 oz, which is smaller than the original Aqua Globe. The smaller sized Mini Aqua Globes are a perfect fit for all indoor plants, and patio and hanging plants (once the outside temperature is right).

We finally have a solution to plant watering problems. So if you are like me and you never know how much water to use, you can use the Mini Aqua Globes because they do all the work for us. Now, we can keep our indoor plants happy in the winter, and growing strong in the spring and summer with the new Mini Aqua Globes.
